Hedley Stark was born in Digby Nova Scotia in 1948. As an amateur, Hedley played golf at the Digby Pines golf course in Nova Scotia's Annapolis valley under the direction of head pro Nick Nickerson. His love for the game led him to pursue a career in golf. In 1967 Hedley set out for St. Andrews golf course in New Brunswick to become assistant to the head pro Clayton Vantasel. Once achieving his pro status, Hedley had his eyes set on Nova Scotia to become head pro at the Shelburne golf course. Struggling with his affection for the game and making a living, Hedley in 1975 decided to give up the golf business to work in Ontario. But he never lost his love for the game as it brought him back to the Maritimes ten years later to Hampton Golf Course as assistant pro under the direction of Doug Sullivan. In 1990 Hedley came to Restigouche Golf Course where he continues to grow his passion for the game with his wife and two children.
