Restigouche Golf Club Course Etiquette
Golf is traditionally a "gentleman's" game and there are certain courtesies that are universally respected by knowledgeable players. These are difficult to master. They will become second nature to you after just a few rounds. So if you wish to be a popular golfer, please observe the following:
- Be at the First Tee, ready to play at the agreed upon time.
- Give all player, regardless of ability, sex or age all courtesies.
- If you are moving slowly or looking for a lost ball, invite the golfers behind you to play through. For safety reasons: Once you have motioned these players to play through, do not resume looking for your ball until the entire group has teed off. You must not resume playing until they are out of range.
- Smooth out (rake) all club marks and footprints before leaving a Bunker (Sand Trap).
- Do not pull a cart through a Bunker or over a Green.
- Replace all divots; your own and others whenever possible.
- Delay hitting your ball until players in front of you are well out of range.
- Be on the alert to shout "Fore" should your ball be headed toward another player.
- Do not scuff Greens with your spikes or clubs, and do not walk in another player's line of putting
- Do not speak or move when you are near another golfer who is about to play.
- Do not allow your shadow to fall in a player's line of vision while he/sheis hitting.
- Leave the putting green promptly after holing out. Mark your scorecard at the next tee while the others hit.
